Right fit if you are.

  • CIOs and deputy CIOs taking the governance portfolio.
  • IT governance leads in regulated industries (banking, insurance, utilities, public sector).
  • Big Four senior managers running governance reviews.
  • Board members on technology or audit committees.

NOT for. When to skip it.

We'd rather you keep your money than buy the wrong path.

  • Hands-on IT managers without executive exposure. CISM or CRISC fit better.
  • IS auditors looking for an audit credential. CISA stays the primary credential.
  • Practitioners under five years of governance-level experience.

What you'll be able to do

  • 1Design and operate an enterprise IT governance framework aligned with COBIT and the business strategy.
  • 2Lead IT strategic management cycles that the board signs off and audits validate.
  • 3Quantify and report IT investment benefits realisation.
  • 4Integrate IT risk into the enterprise risk-management framework.
  • 5Optimise IT resources (people, technology, vendor partnerships) against governance objectives.

Buyers always ask

How long is the CGEIT exam?+

Four hours, 150 multiple-choice questions, computer-based at a PSI testing centre. Scoring 200 to 800; passing mark is 450. Same format and venue as CISA, CISM and CRISC.

CGEIT or COBIT certifications?+

They complement each other. COBIT 2019 Foundation + Design & Implementation are the framework credentials, they certify you can apply COBIT to design a governance system. CGEIT is the personal credential at executive level, it attests you have the experience to govern an enterprise IT estate. Many CIOs hold COBIT for the framework fluency and CGEIT for the executive-level credibility.
